How a voucher becomes supper

Buy it. Send it.
They redeem it at the pub.

A Birthday Steak voucher is credit for a steak supper at a partner pub in South Yorkshire or North Nottinghamshire, from £25. Valid for 12 months from your chosen first day. Unused value is not refunded and stays with Birthday Steak. The pub is paid only when it is redeemed.

Six steps to checkout

  1. 01

    Name the occasion

    An 18th, Father’s Day, or no particular reason. The voucher is the same steak supper either way. The occasion is only so the pub knows why they are coming.

  2. 02

    Name the guest

    The name printed on the voucher. You will add your own name and a note later.

  3. 03

    Choose a pub

    A partner house in South Yorkshire or North Nottinghamshire. We list a name publicly only when that partnership is live. You can still choose a venue in checkout while we bring pubs on.

  4. 04

    Set the value

    Suggested amounts start at £25, then £50, £75, and £100, or a custom amount. It covers food and drink that night, not a fixed menu.

  5. 05

    Write the note and the first day

    Your name, the email it should go to, a message, and the first day the voucher can be used — up to two months ahead. Nothing counts down before that day.

  6. 06

    Choose delivery and pay

    Email straight away, on a date you pick, to yourself, or by post. Stripe takes the card. Before you pay, the page states the expiry, that unused value is not refunded, and that the pub is paid only on redemption.

From the email to the bill

    The voucher arrives

    An email with your note, the pub, the amount, and the code. Or a printed voucher, if you chose the post.

  2. 02

    They register

    With the same email the voucher was sent to. Until they do, the pub cannot redeem the code.

  3. 03

    They book

    After the first valid day, they book a table and keep the voucher page open. It shows the dates and the code.

  4. 04

    The pub redeems it

    Staff enter the code at the end of the meal. That is when the house is paid. If the bill is more than the voucher, the guest pays the rest.

Good to know

How long is the voucher valid?
12 months from the first calendar day the voucher can be used — you choose that date when you buy (up to two months ahead). Nothing runs until then.
What can it be spent on?
Food and drink the pub is serving that night. There is no set menu. If the bill is higher than the voucher, the guest pays the difference.
Where is it valid?
At a partner pub in South Yorkshire or North Nottinghamshire. A house is named on this site only when the partnership is live.
What if the pub is fully booked?
Once your chosen first day arrives, you still have 12 months to visit — plenty of time to book.
What if it is never used?
Unused vouchers are not refunded. After the expiry date the voucher has no value, and that amount is not returned to you or the guest. It stays with Birthday Steak.
When is the pub paid?
Only when the voucher is redeemed. The guest registers with the email it was sent to, books, and shows the code. Staff redeem it, and the house is paid for that meal. An unused voucher is not paid out.
